People just learning the have high cholesterol should be informed of the things that cause it. It not only comes with your lifestyle but also your genes. I have just been diagnosed with high cholesterol. I have talked with my doctor about what causes this problem, he asked if I was addicted to milk, cheese, red meat etc. I told him, no to all above, I can’t drink milk, I love cheese but not every day, I love a good steak but not every day. All the things he talked about I am guilty of, but not in an excessive manner. However, I am a smoker and a drinker, I know these are major factors and I plan to do something about these two bad habits.
However, the one thing he did say is with my numbers being so high, it has to be a heredity factor! I know my mother had the same problems and she and I were just alike. How can anyone beat heredity? I truly believe I have this problem because of my genes and not my total lifestyle. I know my children will have the same problem when they are older because of their genes. I think more information should be published about how genes and heredity are factors in the diagnosis of high cholesterol.
I am being place on medicine to help lower my cholesterol, which I am not happy about I do not like to take unnecessary medications for anything. Is there herb supplement I can take? I am currently researching that issue, which I hope to have an answer to soon.
In order to set a good example I am going to do my best to break the two bad habits I have and start creating new ones, that will help reflect the good in life and not so much the bad. I am determined to not let high cholesterol beat me I am going to beat it!
