Blog 4

Dear Candle.net Webmaster,

I was recently surfing the internet to find some wonderful candles to give as teacher appreciation gifts. I came across your web site and was amazed to find such a variety of candles. It is to my understanding that you are one company and you sell several other companies candles.
Have you considered revamping your website? As a student whom just finished a computer class, I would like to share a couple of ideas with you about your website that may make it more appealing and be helpful to pull more customers your way who might be doing what I did and be surfing the web.
You signify the flame of the candle means: “ faith, hope, remembrance , freedom, wisdom and love”, which is very true. However, to me your website doesn’t deliver any of those traits. When I think of a candle I think of happiness, family, romance, relaxation, the smell of something wonderful.
You may want to consider brightening up you background. With a brighter background your audience will feel happy (the black is dull and depressing), interested as to what is within the pages, and it will make your site more inviting to customers. I also noticed some of the fonts on your pages are hard to read, you may want to take into consideration of your older surfers. You may want to consider changing the font size and color to match your new background. If customers can read the font easily they are more apt to read more about the site and maybe purchase.
Another idea you may want to consider, I noticed you had pictures of many of the items. Looking at the pictures you have posted they seem too beautiful to be true, in my opinion they look like they were taken from a magazine. You may want to consider taking your own pictures and exhibit those on the web. Customers like to view the actual product they will be receiving. I would also show a wide variety of colors within the picture. You have your fragrances listed but I for one would like to see the colors of the items.
I hope you will consider some of these recommendations for your website as I think they will benefit your company in the long run.
Sincerely,
Sherleen Thibodeaux
